National Poetry Out Loud is a partnership of the National Endowment for the Arts, The Poetry Foundation, and the state arts agencies of the United States. It is a national poetry recitation program for students in grades 9-12 or the age/grade equivalent. Traditionally designed for public, charter, parochial, and homeschool teachers, it encourages students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life.

SOPAC has served as the Region 5 Partner since 2013. Since then, Region 5 has produced two State Champions, one State Runner-Up, and one National Semi-Finalist.

In this professional learning program, teachers explore the process of sourcing, rehearsing, and reciting snippets of poems from the Poetry Out Loud Anthology.
