Meet the Comics

Petey DeAbreu

Born and raised in the Bronx, Petey DeAbreu brings something fresh to the world of comedy that has not been seen since the golden age of New York city entertainment. Bringing down the house wherever he hits the stage, Petey has most recently toured with Broad City’s Ilana Glazer as well as performed at Comedy Central’s Clusterfest. He also co-produced Ilana Glazer’s “The Planet is Burning” on Amazon(2020) as well as co-produced and performed with Ilana on Ilana Glazer Presents Comedy on Earth on Comedy Central (2021)

Isabel Hagen

Isabel Hagen is a stand-up comedian and classically trained violist. Every little girl’s dream. As a comic, she has been featured twice on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and was a New Face of Comedy at the Just for Laughs festival in Montréal. Isabel started stand-up right after earning her Bachelors and Masters degrees in viola performance from the Juilliard School.

As a violist, Isabel has played in the orchestra for several productions on Broadway including Les Miserables, Fiddler on the RoofThe Lion King and Rocktopia. She has performed and worked with numerous artists such as Björk, Ed Sheeran, Max Richter, The National, and Steve Reich.

Jake Mattera

Jake Mattera is a Philadelphia-based stand up known for his loveable brand of wholesome self-deprecation. He perfectly blends smart and silly on his spiritual quest to make himself the butt of every joke. His hilarious take on marriage, parenthood, work, and daily life highlight the universal vulnerability we share in our most awkward moments.

His debut album, A Soft One, was released by Helium Records; it debuted at #2 on iTunes and Amazon. Jake’s comedy is featured on a “Best Of Philly” compilation that—along with his album—can be heard on Sirius XM. He’s performed in sketches on Conan and with the sketch group Gilly and Keeves. His comedy festival appearances include Big Sky, Laughing Skull, Limestone, San Francisco Sketchfest, and HBO’s WICF. Jake was a finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival and Helium Comedy’s Philly’s Phunniest Competition. He’s opened for Brian Regan, Dave Attell, and Nate Bargatze, among others.

Dan Goodman

Dan is one of the most creative minds in comedy.  Creator and host of the wildly popular NYC show “Schtick a poll in it” Dan is always reinventing how comedy can be written, performed and shared.  He is also an accomplished writer of TV and film with some of my favorites  being “Skinja” and “Dunked On Dreams.”

About Host Joe Larson

Joe is a comedian, husband and father – the former makes the latter well….interesting.

When Joe met his now wife she loved how much he made her laugh. He warned her that while she finds it cute now, she may feel differently when he is unable to do anything but joke during the heat of an argument. As his wife eventually found out “you’re funny all the time!” can quickly turn into “Does everything have to be a joke?”

Perhaps it’s not his fault, Joe is after all a second generation comedian. Much to his parent’s dismay at the age of twenty, Joe went into the family business. Straight away he was chosen College Comedian of the Year at the Las Vegas Comedy Festival and shortly after he made the move to New York City where he paid his dues at any club that would give him the mic.

Joe has been on stage at some of the best rooms in the city including the famed Caroline’s On Broadway and Gotham Comedy Club. He was nominated “Best Up-And-Coming Comedian” at the NYC MAC Awards, was a finalist in both the prestigious Johnny Carson Great American Comedy Festival and Boston Comedy Festival and was part of the feature film Stand Up 360. Joe has also been seen on Gotham Comedy Live, NBC’s America’s Got Talent, Laughs on FOX, the Tonight Show’s Laugh Squad and the Speed Channel. On radio he is a repeat guest on Bob and Tom and the Bennington Show.

Joe’s show, Couleur Comedy, was one of the hottest shows in Brooklyn. It brought together the freshest up-and-coming comedians and established pros for a dynamic and exciting evening. Now, a South Orange resident, Joe is bringing his show to SOPAC.
