Blues, Bebop, Bossa — as long as it’s swinging, you’ll hear it at SOPAC! This performance presents the Ted Chubb Band featuring Bruce Williams.

Ted Chubb

Ted Chubb’s new release Gratified Never Satisfied positions the trumpet player and composer as a singular creative force in music. A multi-faceted artist, he has served as both a leader and a collaborator to Christian McBride, Wallace Roney, Winard Harper, Antonio Hart, Melissa Walker, Don Braden, Bruce Williams, Billy Hart, Charenee Wade, Tia Fuller, Vincent Gardner, Dave Stryker, Josh Evans, Dave Gibson, Jerome Jennings, and Cecil Brooks III. The Ohio native has performed with mid-west legends, including Hammond B3 master Bobby Floyd and saxophonist Gene Walker. In 2003 Chubb moved to New York City to study with master trumpet teacher William “Prof.” Fielder, receiving his master of music from Rutgers University. From 2006 to 2011, he toured with the Tony Award-winning show Jersey Boys, and has co-led the critically acclaimed quartet New Tricks which released two recordings and toured extensively throughout the U.S. Chubb has performed on The Tonight Show, at New York clubs Smalls, Cellar Dog (formerly Fat Cat), Jazz Standard, Minton’s Playhouse, and Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and at festivals across North America, South America, and Europe. Since the beginning of his career, Chubb has demonstrated an ability to adapt his knowledge, talent, and worldliness to enhance and evolve every aspect of his art. “I am in a phase in my life where I am trying to connect with and develop relationships through the music around the globe, anywhere there are people that can benefit from the positive and universal power of the music. In a time where so much of the world is trying to divide us from one another, I believe this is of the highest importance.” He currently resides in New York City and Luzern Switzerland, focusing on his own projects both internationally and in New York.
