Greg Bufford, versatile drummer, composer, producer and educator studied music at Berklee College Of Music, Rutgers University, and with master drummer Philly Joe Jones. Greg Bufford worked as a professional drummer internationally with such names as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Randy Weston, Freda Payne, Dakota Staton, Leslie Uggams, Steve Nelson, Sonny Stitt, Little Jimmy Scott, Sun Ra, Barney Kessel, Mor Thiam Drums of Fire (father of Akon), Vaughan Mason and Crew (the Prince-Rick James Tour).
Musical productions featuring Greg’s talents on the drums include Ain’t Misbehavin’, Stormy Weather, The Ella Fitzgerald Story, Eubie, Rollin on the T.O.B.A., Hallelujah Baby, Portraits of Ray, All That Jazz, and The Wiz. As a composer and producer, Greg has written music for Film & TV including Roll Bounce, Sesame Street, The Bernie Mack Show, Martin Lawrence, South Central, and is also credited for the 1979 Classic Gold Recording “Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll.”
Greg Bufford currently gives workshops, lectures and private lessons internationally and is the founder of The Bufford School of Music, in West Orange, New Jersey. Bufford School productions include A Tribute to Philly Joe Jones, The Music Of Billie Holiday, The Music of Frank Sinatra, and The Music of Stevie Wonder.
