Carolyn Dorfman Dance returns to SOPAC for a joyous evening that will have audiences dancing in their seats. Carolyn and her eleven multi-ethnic and stunning dancers invite you to celebrate the human experience with repertory favorites and new works.
The world premiere of NOW – a new work by renaissance artist, nationally renowned dancer, choreographer Juel D. Lane (a former Carolyn Dorfman Dance company member, currently dancing with Broadway, Dance and TV award winning choreographer, director Camille A. Brown.)
Dorfman’s newest piece, the vibrant PRIMA!, commissioned by Ocean County College and the Gia Maione Prima Foundation. Experience the robust, driving and buoyant sound of legendary Jazz musician, Louis Prima and his band; with the powerful, virtuosic and expressive voices of Prima’s female lead Jazz singers, Gia Maione Prima and Keely Smith.
And a fan favorite, the whirling PASTORALE PAUSE, performed to intoxicating Celtic music. Get swept up in movement imagery inspired by the mountains and meadows of the American West. Dorfman creates a journey that embraces the serenity, jubilation and sensuousness of being at one and in relationship with nature.
Come, be inspired by this bold, athletic, ‘no holds barred’ company, with Dance Works for Now!
