Blues People is a “neo-Blues” band featuring Kelton Cooper (vocals/guitar), Victor Burks (keys/vocals), Mike Griot (bass) and Gene Lake (drums). Early comparisons to the Meters and Luther Allison are starting to roll in — and the band graciously gives a humble nod to those legendary artists.
This collective of tour-tested veterans exploded on the live scene in late 2019; a string of NY-area promotional appearances quickly established their world-class musicianship and charisma. An impromptu appearance by lead guitarist Cooper with multiple Grammy/BMA award winner and band friend Christone “Kingfish” Ingram at the Brooklyn Bowl further highlighted the Blues People brand to the audience’s great delight.
The band has successfully used the sudden global pandemic as a perfect opportunity to record their 2021 debut album, as well as grow their enthusiastic following. The twelve song release literally pulls from “every crayon in the Blues crayon box” according to producer Mike Griot. “We can’t wait to do what we do — for all Blues people.”
