A strong non-profit organization is built on the shoulders of those dedicated community members who generously give their time and experience in service of a common interest. Providing valuable services to administrative staff as well as patrons, volunteers are the smiling faces behind the SOPAC experience.
Open to all members of our community, the SOPAC volunteer program offers a variety of unique learning experiences within an arts organization. Whether would like to be involved in office work, event staffing, ushering at performances, or contributing your professional expertise, you will be warmly welcomed!

What kinds of jobs can I volunteer for?
The SOPAC volunteer program provides an unparalleled opportunity to participate in many aspects of a non-profit arts organization. SOPAC works closely with volunteers to identify the areas of focus that best suit their interest and experience.
Administrative (year-round) – The administrative volunteer is able to interact with the staff on a daily basis and gain a deep understanding of many areas of theatre management. Activities vary based on the time of year but general tasks include database management, mail merges, filing, and reception. Volunteers should have general knowledge of both Word and Excel, and a personable phone manner. This is a perfect position for someone starting out in theatre administration, as it provides a comprehensive overview of the organization, and allows the volunteer to develop a breadth of administrative skills.
Development (year-round) – The development volunteer works closely with the SOPAC development staff. Duties include the research of funding opportunities, planning and coordinating large mailings, database management and assistance with special events.
Front-of-House (fall, winter and spring) – Ushers and front-of-house volunteers work closely with House Management staff during our intense production season. You will gain experience in customer relations and help to create a warm, welcoming environment for SOPAC patrons. Whether ticket-taking, handing out programs, or assisting patrons to their seats you help to make the experience a special one for SOPAC guests.
Marketing & Communications (year-round) – The marketing volunteer works closely with the Marketing & Communications department, focusing on publicity and visibility for SOPAC. This volunteer will assist in daily administrative duties within the marketing department, participate in special marketing events, help distribute marketing materials and help to coordinate online and direct mail outreach.
